Ukraine: Ruth Ellen Gruber in Search of Tomb of Ber of Belechow
I was in L'viv, Ukraine last week for an important conference on "Urban Jewish Heritage and History in East Central Europe." My sister, Ruth Ellen Gruber was the conference keynote speaker. After two days of sessions, participants continued with meetings with officials in Lviv, and set off on their pursuits. Ruth was intent on finding the grave of Ber of Bolechew, whose 18th century memoir was an early inspiration to her Jewish travel writing. You can read about her successful search on her blog.
